September 3, 2009 - Phoenix Contact's newest mobile product demonstration shows how to get the most mileage out of automation. The fully restored and customized 1970 El Camino displays a wide range of industrial components and connectors for IP67 applications. nload="javascript:if(>500)=500" align=right border=0>
Dubbed for its namesake FieldLine I/O, the dazzling green "FL Camino" features an active demonstration of machine-mount and wireless Bluetooth I/O, DUPLICON power distribution, wireless Ethernet, industrial PCs, embedded controllers and heavy-duty connectors for power and data. But far from being just another industrial product demonstration, the FL Camino also sports 18-inch rims, GPS navigation, twin DVDs, DirecTV, XM satellite radio, a 32-inch HDTV, Wii gaming system and a 48,0000-BTU grill.
The FL Camino is scheduled to visit industry tradeshows and Phoenix Contact distributors across the U.S. However, since its unique capabilities make the FL Camino the ultimate tailgating vehicle, the car will also attend major sporting events, starting with the USC-Ohio State football game on Sept. 12 in Columbus, Ohio.
